Hi, I’m Julie, creator of Flow. I spent life’s front nine as a radio personality and interior stylist. I’m spending the back nine as a mindful mama and curator of design, organization, and wellness flow.
My boys describe Flow as my little piece of real estate –an expressive corner of the world where I can connect without it asking me to make it a sandwich. Truer adolescent words were never spoken.
Finding your passion isn’t about careers and money. it’s about finding your authentic self. the one you’ve buried beneath other people’s needs.-Kristin Hannah
Life’s twists and turns led me to Flow. It’s been quite a ride. The front nine was rocky, which I find an ironic gift. While treading the waters of dysfunction, I developed a keen sense of emotional and aesthetic balance. It was through strife I learned to forge life’s flow.
During my twenties, I co-hosted radio talk shows and shared friendships with a motley crew, including rock stars, professional athletes, and even The Purple One — Prince. It was a surreal, exhilarating, and remarkably raucous time.
My thirties and forties were more reticent as I welcomed marriage, two sons, and a flourishing interior styling career. But, as my caregiver and client lists grew strong, my well-being grew weak. After years grinding on the hamster-wheel of be-all-to-all, my health took a debilitating turn. Welcome to the autoimmune apocalypse.
It has taken years of trial and error to regain my wellness. I’m still learning and adjusting my sails as I continue to heal. My most valuable takeaway is that I’m allowed to say, “No.” No, I don’t have to hustle for my worth. No, I don’t have to sacrifice my soul for a seat at the table. No, you may not dictate my story; this fairytale is mine.
I traded the hustle for southern California beaches. I traded the hustle for nurturing my testosterone tribe of five. I’m grateful to have traded the hustle to connect with like minded souls on this little blog called Flow. And I hope sharing my challenges along with design, organization, and wellness lessons learned will help guide your path to flow, too. Flow is always within reach — patiently waiting for us to get out of the way.
Enough about me. —YOU. That’s what this blog is truly about. I hope the feel-good nuggets I share gently nudge you to manifest a simpler, happier life. And when you need some Flow, I’ll be here — thrilled to share everything I’ve learned with you. Thanks for hanging with me, y’all. I’m crazy-happy you’re here. ♡
